Two Year Weight Loss Journey

When I first moved to New Hampshire, I was mentally and physically unhealthy. At no point did I feel comfortable in my own skin or in my own mind. I had gotten out of a bad relationship and still believed the best in the guy, I never realized how damaging he had been to me.

I rarely share moments like this because I was self-conscious, and when you’re in the middle of your weight loss journey or any journey, you don’t see differences. They’re small and gradual, but they do add up. So, me sharing this with you, is for every young lady, every young man who needs some encouragement.

If you have been in an abusive relationship, a controlling one, an insulting one, this is for you. If you feel uncomfortable, and you’re continuously trying to make a difference in your life, this is for you. If you have been insulted over your size, no matter big or small, this is for you. Wherever you are in life, you can start today and take it to step by step.

I am still way out of my comfort zone sharing this, but I have worked hard to get to where I am. I have surrounded myself with different people, changed my lifestyle habits, and have changed the way I have thought about myself.

  3. The idea that one cannot be fit if one is fat – a fathlete – is a bad but lasting one in US and other cultures. Everyone’s journey is different, there are genetic and environmental factors. With the pandemic, food insecurity and limitations on access to healthy food not to mention the high cost of organic food in the first place, will all make it even harder to reduce pounds. Food should be enjoyed as well as fuel for the body. Fortunately there is more to life than one number on a scale. Thanks for bravely sharing your story, and you are a good person despite what that number says or if you have that food you think you “shouldn’t”.

  4. Congratulations! I was in a rough marriage for 18 1/2 years, happily divorced for 16 years now, but remarried 3 years ago to a man I’ve been with for over 15 years and it is wonderful. What a change! Over the past couple of years, I have gained some weight because of age and stress. Only about 15 pounds but at 5’1″, that is too much. I was moving into the next size up in clothes. In March, I lost my job of 11 1/2 years to COVID. It turned out to be a great thing! I’ve been on my own exercise regime of stretches, crunches and hula hoop every day since April 7, 2020. I have lost 3″ in my waist. I weighed myself at the doctor on Monday and I’ve only lost 5 pounds but the weight doesn’t matter. My clothes fit great again and I don’t have to go buy more in a bigger size. It’s wonderful that you shared this and I hope that anyone who is in a similar situation don’t wait as long as I did to get out! 🙂 Awesome Post!
